MINUTE-BOOK OF THE CONSORTIUM

the 19th day of March, 1731

Present: Mr. H——, bookbinder; Mr. Aldous P——, bookbinder; Mrs. E—— V——, clerk of estates; and one other, lately of the assurance trade, whose name the minute is instructed not to keep.

It is this day RESOLVED and entered as the first article of our charter:

“Whatsoever the world has ceased to keep, this house shall keep, that the account be not broken.”

Subscription is fixed at two guineas the year. Materials received shall be entered without judgment as to worth, it being agreed that worth is the one judgment the world has already rendered upon them, and rendered wrongly.

Expenditures approved this session:

Item the first — repair of the third bell, the tenor being sound	£1 4s.
Item the second — black cloth, and a lectern	16s.
Item the third — candles, in quantity	£2 2s.

The question of premises being raised, it was answered from the chair that the premises would not present a difficulty, and the question was not pressed. — Minute concludes.
